I’m just sort of testing the waters on this. I’ve spent a lot of time and money on this old rig, and it’s going to be tough to let it go. I’m checking the potential value, so I’m open to reasonable offers.
1979 VW Adventurewagen High Top
CA Spec 2.0 Type IV engine with original L-Jet fuel injection and electronic ignition
No idea on the mileage, but it runs great
Leaks a little oil (big surprise)
1978 Westfalia interior with working stove and sink. The non-working fridge was pulled to make more storage space
Florescent cabin lights with Fantastic vent fan
Dual battery setup with HUGE 120 amp/hour aux battery. All of the interior lights/sink pump/vent fan/and stereo are wired into the aux battery. If you run it down (which would take days), it will still start up because the main battery is isolated.
New 6×9 speakers
TONS of storage and a slide out bunk bed up top
Front passenger dogleg has a small rust area, it should be patched or replaced. Surface rust on the front floor has been treated, and small surface blisters on the exterior. These will come off with a sander/grinder. There is no rot-through anywhere on the bus that I can find. The undercarriage/engine compartment are in excellent shape. Even the battery tray is 100% rust free!
KYB shocks all around, heavy duty front sway bar, new front bearings, new shift coupler, rebuilt starter, NOS Bosch cold start valve, new Bosch fuel pump, correct size/rating Hankook tires
No Chinese crap parts on this bus
This is a good running, trusty bus which I’ve driven all over and had a blast with. I really hate to part with it…but it is time to move on to my next project. I have shelves full of good parts that can go with it for the right price.
