So I have a very nice 1976 VW Westfalia Camper up for sale. Not super motivated to sell but will be more than accommodating to serious inquiries.
I’m in the market for a sailboat, so have to give up a toy.
Bought the van around 5 yrs ago and have put a lot of work into it. Is a solid running vehicle, as I have never had any break downs on the road. The original air cooled VW motors were pretty simple and thus dependable if maintained. Only one issue at this time. Starter has finally gone out but is a very cheap fix and will be done as soon as I can get it to my VW guru here in Bloomington. Has been taken care of by previous owners and maintained by myself. Sleeps two adults in the flip down bench (cozy) and 1 adult or 2 small kids in the tent loft on top. Since I’ve owned the vehicle the following has been done.
Rebuilt transmission (believe is original 4sp manual) shifts very smoothly for a old VW.
New paint to match original.
Rhino lined interior to prevent any rust in usual VW trouble spots (floor, steps, etc were rust free)
New marine grade carpet
Redone front seat upholstry
Installed power inverter for fridge interior lights.
Large dorm size fridge added (runs off inverter or outside camping plug)
Custom hardwood interior (Maple)
purchased all new window rubber seals (not installed yet)
Wired for Sirius radio + CD player and 4 new speakers
This was never intended to be a frame off restoration so don’t expect a show car, as i’ve used it for road trips and camping quite a bit, but it is in very good condition for age, mechanically in good shape and def turns heads wherever it goes. Am willing to show the vehicle in Bloomington to serious inquiries only. To the right person, and for the right deal, I might negotiate slightly, but this VW is close to my heart, in great condition, and will only go up in $ in the future, so please don’t throw me low ball offers. Text with any questions and i’ll get back to you asap. Thanks!
