Selling a beautiful and great running 1968 Sundial American Camper Van Volkswagen Bus with a Westfalia Camper top.
Take a look at the photos and you’ll see what great shape this vintage Volkswagen bus is in!
The entire interior was completely redone with custom hand cut birch wood cabinetry (it’s not a kit!) vintage interior mirrors, and stylish light grey upholstery throughout; which was professionally installed. The matching curtains add to the comfortable feel when inside. While it’s not a pass through, it does seat 3 up front with seat belts, and can seat up to 8 people for a fun drive!
It comes with custom made leather and mesh netting to keep the bugs out and the cool breezes flowing when you’re camping. It also has a custom made privacy/sun shade to keep it darker in the early AM sun. All of the nets snap onto the frame around the sliding door, back hatch, and inside the front windshield and doors. There’s a compartment above the back seat to store the netting. New reflectors were added, and there’s a working interior spot light too.
The engine has a blower switch on the steering column. And there’s a simple theft deterrent system! Yep, just flip the red switch on the gas line and lock the back engine hatch. If it’s stolen, they will get about 200 feet before it runs out of gas! We use it when we take it camping and go for day hikes, or even when at the mall.
It drives and runs wonderfully! It shifts smoothly into all 4 gears and reverse without any problems, and always starts right up on the first turn of the key. Kenwood CD player. It’s a great camper and we’ve taken it out on several trips with absolutely no issues, EVER!
Not only is it beautiful to look at (we see a lot of heads turn as we drive), but several mechanical concerns have been fixed by professional VW mechanics. The windshield, ball joints, shocks, battery and tires were all replaced this year. Also, all the rubber around the engine hatch, rear door, sliding door, front doors, and windshield are all new. See the full list of what’s been done, and when.
The left passenger hubcap does have a small bit of rust in few spots. The muffler could probably be replaced too since there’s a single small hole in one spot. I’ve sealed it with metal tape and clamps (removed for photo) to protect it. Otherwise, it’s in incredible shape. The underside has virtually no rust at all. I have clear title to the vehicle.
